Corfu is a major tourist destination and thrives on the income it draws from visitors during the summer months. The island has a solid tourist infrastructure which includes a large number of hotels and self catering accommodation.
Hotels can be found within a short distance of both the port and the island's airport.
The Atlantis Hotel is among the best hotels in the area and is a favourite for many visitors. It is situated across the road from the port and provides excellent service year round. Alternative establishments in the area include the Ariti Hotel, which is just over 3 km / 2 miles from the port and the Anita Hotel, a small family run hotel just under 6 km / 4 miles from the port.
Most of Corfu's resort areas are found along the east coast, to the north and south of Corfu town. Though they are a little way from the port (as much as an hour's drive), they present a much nicer environment than the town.
